Another participant in this project, who has served as an outstanding resource in the planning thus far, and offers her expertise in the field of international education is Amalie Gorbold. Amalie is a graduate student in the MA ITEP program at American University and serves as our research assistant and development expert. We are so grateful to have her on our team.

The Porteno School, in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua, was destroyed by Hurricane Felix in 2007. Thankfully, a donor rebuilt the school and 440 students attend this six-room school house throughout the day. The teachers have extremely limited resources, and students sit at their desks with only paper and pencils. Eight education students from American University are planning a trip to bring supplies and professional development for the teachers at the School in March 2009. We need your help.

Hurrah Team -- just got your text that you made it to Puerto Cabezas and are sitting under Palm Trees eating lunch -- who said you could have so much fun?
I am delighted to see that two of my EDU 519 students are on the team. Jackie and Kait, I want to hear all about the experience when you get back.
